Brighton officially announced the signing of former England international Welbeck.
Welbeck is 29 years old this year. Before that he played for Manchester United, Preston, Sunderland, Arsenal, Watford and other teams. Brighton and Welbeck signed a one-year contract, a few days ago the player just terminated the contract with Watford. He will play in the No. 18 jersey and is expected to appear in the game against West Brom on October 27.
His contract with Watford made it clear that there was a 5.5 million euro termination fee clause, and his contract should expire next summer. But he hopes to choose a new home now, so he negotiated with the club to terminate the contract and became a free agent.
Last season, Welbeck played 20 times for Watford, started 10 times and contributed 3 goals.
